Walking Away

Life gets tough and it becomes easier to let go. To just stop running the race and give up, to walk away and leave everything behind.

I know I’ve felt like this many times and I know I am not alone. Sometimes I think it would be easier to go with the flow. To just allow myself to slip into the background with the world. To say yes to what the world has to offer.

It is so tiring to turn the other cheek. To allow people to get “away” with things. To forgive when we want to hold a grudge. To grant grace when we are wronged. To humble ourselves when pride wants to take the spotlight. To be selfless and put others first.

Its so tough to day by day crucify the flesh. It is easier to live a life unaccountable. To do the wrong thing because it feels good.

I want to encourage you and tell you that God knew we would doubt. And He never said it would be easy to follow Him. He actually says the opposite.  “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world” John 16:33. In this verse Jesus is encouraging His disciples because the time is coming when He will have to be nailed to the cross. If you read the whole chapter of John 16 its like a scene where the hero tells all the people he is saving that they will be okay. Its the scene where the parent assures the children everything will be fine after a catastrophic event has happened. In these scenes sometimes things are not okay and we as the viewers know it, but with Jesus we are given assurance that death has been defeated because He rose on the third day.

Friend, when you feel beaten down by circumstances, by people by life in general. When you feel like you just want to walk away from it all remind yourself that this life is not the end. The pain of this world reminds us that this is not our home. And while God has given us good things to be able to live this life in fullness with Him, we are just passing by.

So let me encourage you and tell you that God see’s you. He knows the things that have been done to you and He will work it for good. He knows the pain that has been caused to you, and He will heal you. And when you feel like you just cant go on, ask and He will renew your strength. Walking away should never be an option for a believer who know the Creator of the Universe. The God for whom nothing is impossible. Our good good Father who is always in the midst.
