Honesty and Modesty

The term modest fashion or modest dressing refers to a fashion trend in women of wearing less skin-revealing clothes, especially in a way that satisfies their spiritual and stylistic requirements for reasons of faith, religion or personal preference.( definition by Wikipedia)

Honestly ladies, we need to be accountable for the image we are putting of ourselves out there. Women were not created to be ogled, we were created with a purpose. We were created with intention. To dress modestly is to dress in a way that honors Christ.

When you have a relationship with God your mind is renewed and you learn that you do have the freedom to wear whatever you want because God see’s your heart. You are in liberty to wear whatever you want because you know your worth is not tied to your appearance.  That right there is true liberation. So if God does not care about our outward appearance then why does modesty matter?

Because we are of royal lineage sister, we cannot dress the way we used to when we were lost in the world. We have value, we are not commoners. Galatians 4:6-7 “And because we are his children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, prompting us to call out, “Abba, Father.” Now you are no longer a slave but God’s own child. And since you are his child, God has made you his heir.”

Because we are ambassadors who represent the living God, who represent the King of Kings and we command respect with just our presence. 2 Corinthians 5:20-21″Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”

Because we were made in the image of Christ, who is perfect and holy. Genesis 1:26-27 “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.”                                            1 Peter 1:15-16 15″But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; 16for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”

Lastly, we are citizens of heaven and our dressing and customs and values are different than the world we live in. We are not perfect, no one is, but we can try and be intentional about what we wear.

Romans 12:2 “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”
