Tired of Being Good

Are you ever just tired of doing the right thing? Tired of always sifting your actions, thoughts and words? I am. Its this draining feeling where you sit with yourself and say to God ” Jesus I am so done.” I think its ok to come to that point at times, because It is in those moments where you learn you need His strength to do good.

As believers we are suppose to do the opposite of the world. We are to swim up stream and go against the current. Can I tell you that I struggle sometimes? And I think that’s okay. You struggle because there are two forces in you, the spirit and the flesh. The spirit wants to do what is morally right and the flesh wants to do what feels good.

“I don’t really understand myself, for I want to do what is right , but I don’t do it. Instead I do what I hate.” Romans 7:15
This is the apostle Paul speaking about our human nature, and the only way to do right ,to do what is good, is by relying on Jesus. If we are being completely honest if it wasn’t for the Holy Spirit leading us the right way , we would all be doing what our flesh would want. I know I would.

There are a few people that I would want to give a piece of my mind to. There are times where I would actually enjoy being mean, insert your gasp here. But then what would I gain? Self satisfactory that will only leave me wanting more. There are times were I would love to just do whatever feels good at the moment without thinking about the consequences, but what would I gain? Nothing, just more vastness of emptiness.

I want you to know that its okay to struggle, but its not okay to give up. As long as there is a fight there is a chance for you to give honor to God. Every right decision you make helps build better habits. Every right action shows that you are different and your not just another believer talking about God, but you are actually living a life that is worthy of the breath you have been given. Every time you do good because of  your love for Him, your relationship with God is strengthened. You start to become who you were created to be.

Galatians 6:09 “So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.”
